Restaurant Review: Al Boccon di’vino

Coming from an Italian background and being a huge food lover, it seemed appropriate to celebrate my birthday this year at my favourite fine dining Italian restaurant in London. The experience was exceptional, as always, and I felt compelled to share it with you!

Meaning “the divine mouthful”, Al Boccon di’vino delivers exactly that, every time!. Owned by stereotypical Italian restaurateur Ricardo and run by his vibrant, eccentric restaurant manger Simona, the atmosphere in this tiny establishment is unique and welcoming, just as a traditional Italian home should be.

Here, there is no menu, you simply sit down, are recommended one of their delicious wines and almost immediately start to receive the first of many many courses! Spectacular selections of antipasti followed by salads, Italian veggie dishes, fresh pasta and seafood arrive at the table one after the other before your “main course” of (usually) lamb chops, steak or part of a whole, slow roasted animal! It’s all topped off with a delicious dessert and a shot of much needed limoncello to help you digest!

This Italian wedding feast style of service works extremely well when you’re in a large group and is equally effective if you want to share something special with a loved one. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough but make sure you book well in advance because it is extremely popular and very small!
